A gripping thriller, The One will keep you on the edge of your seat.

A gene has been discovered that explains the phenomena of 'love at first sight'. Turns out this gene is unique to everybody and can only match another gene in one other person in the world. This gene is responsible for instant attraction, and unexplainable deep affection as DNA matched couples become almost instantly obsessed with each other. The world has changed, DNA matched couples are seen as more valid then unmatched couples. People are travelling across the world to meet their matches and ending current relationships in favour of their DNA match. It's truly revolutionised dating as we know it. The story follows five characters in their experience of finding their match. Is it such a good thing?

Mandy is a middle aged divorcee whose husband left her for his match. She is desperately hoping to find hers and finally have the family she always dreamed of.

Christopher is a murderous psychopath but he is oddly curious about the DNA test. Will he find the one? Is he capable of love?

Jade's match lives in Australia and she speaks to him online everyday. Will they ever meet?

Nick's fiancée wants him to take the test to see if they are DNA matched. Will their relationship survive if they aren't?

Ellie is a lonely CEO of a highly successful company. She has sacrificed so much for her career, will the test finally help her find the one?

Those are bare bones summaries as I desperately do not want to spoil any of the story lines but each story takes unbelievable twists and turns and I honestly raced through this book. It explores something very interesting, what if there was a DNA test that guarantees your perfect match? Before reading this book, I thought that could only be a good thing but now I'm not so sure. One thing is for sure, this book keeps you guessing until the last page. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish.

Would I take the test? Well as they say, 'curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back'. It's a maybe from me!

I received a free uncorrected proof from the publisher. As always, this does not influence my opinion in any way.
